Our bathrooms are places where we can relax and unwind for the day, as well as prepare for all the things we have to do in the morning. Oftentimes, your bathroom can be either an oasis where you choose to spend your free time enjoying relaxing baths and taking care of your body, or it can be a place that you can’t wait to get out of and only visit when necessary. Most people would choose the former, and having a modern, sleek bathroom is within reach for everyone. Let’s see what the current trends for modern bathrooms are and how to Create a Modern Bathroom.
Open space showers
Imagine seeing a luxurious penthouse bathroom in a movie. A huge wow-moment in those scenes is a centrepiece in form of an open space shower. A large shower head mounted on the ceiling pouring water straight into the centre of the bathroom without any curtains or doors around gives a very luxurious and open feeling, but it should be reserved for bigger bathrooms if you don’t want to have everything else soaked in the process. This needs to be made by a professional because the floor needs to be slightly slanted to lead to a drain for the water so that you don’t end up flooding the room. Do this only if you are doing a big remodel and have plenty of space.
Now let’s look to the other side – to minimalism, the idea of which includes getting furniture and appliances that are as multifunctional as possible to reduce the space they occupy. Towel holders that are also shelving units, baths combined with showers and bidet toilet seats are all great ways to make your bathroom look more spacious when you are dealing with a small space. Try not to cram things into one corner, but rather evenly distribute them around the room to leave some space everywhere. Choose furniture with a simple, sleek design and a solid texture to up the minimalistic look.
Let’s talk about materials, since that is what really completes the look of a room. As a rule, you want to stick to one simple material, such as solid colour tiles or concrete and one that has some interesting details to it like stone or marble. Try to also have two different textures to the touch, for example, glossy tiles and rough stone. When it comes to colours, for a modern look, you want to go dark and muted, with black, red wine and grey being some of the favourites. If it’s a small room, you can consider white tiles with dark details to make sure the room doesn’t look too small and Create a Modern Bathroom.
Room with a view
If there is any way for you to incorporate large glass surfaces or big windows into your bathroom, it will make all the difference. Sometimes, this isn’t possible, but you should still try to maximise your natural light, by strategically placing mirrors, and having a lot of glass surfaces. If you have neighbours close by, both stained glass and light curtains can be a good choice to protect your privacy. A small, dark bathroom, like they often are if they are in a central room with no outside-facing windows, will not do you any favours when you are trying to wake up in the morning and get energised.
Remember that, whenever you are doing a remodel, you don’t have to change everything at once. Make small changes that will gradually lead to the look you ultimately want. This is not only simpler to do, but in case your taste changes over time, you can make the bathroom look however you want at that moment and Create a Modern Bathroom.
